Blue Seafood Guide HIROSHIMA
Hiroshima Prefecture Edition of the Blue Seafood Guide
Hiroshima Prefecture and Sailors for the Sea Japan have a cooperation agreement. As an initiative within this framework, the BSG Hiroshima Prefecture edition was published in March 2023.
Collaboration with the prefecture has made it possible to provide detailed assessments using local data that cannot be seen in materials published by the Fisheries Agency. Hiroshima Prefecture has formulated the ‘2025 Hiroshima Prefecture Action Programme for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ and is actively promoting the establishment of a sustainable fisheries industry through the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with the Sailors for the Sea Japan.
The BSG Hiroshima Prefecture Edition introduces sustainable seafood from Hiroshima Prefecture that have passed the BSG's selection criteria.
The seas of Hiroshima Prefecture are home to many seafood species such as oysters, small sardines and shirasu (baby sardines), and in particular the prefecture’s oyster production is number one in the country. In order to pass on the blessings of this beautiful sea and its beautiful culture to the next generation, let’s choose the sustainable seafood recommended by the BSG Hiroshima Prefecture Edition as a priority and enjoy it in a delicious, fun and environmentally friendly way.
